Rating: - Great DVD!
Reviewer: Dave from Long Branch, New Jersey
I liked the novelty & rarity of it as Ric Flair had never done a shoot interview prior. I didn't have an issue with him not going into certain subjects as much because they were probably covered more extensively in his book. The dipping thing I will agree was kind of distracting.

In response to where the reviewer Bret Hart thing started, it didn't start in Flair's book. Back in 1993, Bret Hart went on radio shows & kept saying Ric Flair was average at best & a so so worker more than ten years before the release of Flair's book. So you need to get your facts straight dude.

This is by far the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am a diehard Ric Flair fan and have been for almost 30 years. Anything with Flair or any of the Horsemen I own or will own when it becomes available. I recieved this as a birthday gift from my wife and I must say that I could not have been happier. This is a must see for any Flair fan as well as wrestling fan alike. His stories and success is unmatched by any other living or passed. Ric Flair Forever! WHOOOO!

I thought the interview was well done.I do agree with Brian that there was not enough road stories but, considering that Ric was covering his wrestling career is a testament to how well done the interview was done.Hopefully that the success of this dvd may lead to another in the future possibly filled with the great road stories that Ric has lived through along with some of the matches that Highspots owns.Once again thank you Highspots.WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I was disappointed with this 4-disc set.

First of all, in 13 hours there was nothing about his time in Toronto, working under Frank Tunney on cards that included Mid-Atlantic, WWWF and AWA talent. For instance, Ric Flair fought WWF champion Bob Backlund in 1979 (http://mapleleafwrestling.4t.com/pictorials/flairvsbacklund.html). In the shoot, Flair only talks about meeting Backlund in Atlanta and St Louis. For more information and photos from his days in Toronto, including losing the US title to Ricky Steamboat in 1978 check out http://mapleleafwrestling.4t.com/featuresmlwp/ricflairintoronto.html

More importantly, there were hardly any good road stories. Ric Flair kept avoiding all the juicy bits involving sex and drugs other than saying that it went on. Ken Patera told a really good story about Ric Flair and hookers in his shoot yet somehow during the 13 hours of Flair's shoot, I don't recall one juicy story, including that incident Patera talked about.

Flair's shoot was informative about the business but it was sterilized from any dirt, as if it were a WWE DVD production. It's really a shame.

Packaging was great, Interview was good but very vanilla for a shoot interview. Lack of matches that during interview Highspots says they aquired rights too such as Flair vs Brody and not put on the DVD set is criminal.

Rating: - Taking another listen...
Reviewer: John from Las Vegas, Nevada
I first got the Flair shoot over Christmas and reviewed it shortly thereafter here on HighSpots. I must ammend my thoughts after I burned the audio from all 13 hours and listened to the MP3's in my car. (I'm not sharing them HighSpots, trust me!) After listening to the shoot I gained an even deeper appreciation for it. Maybe it was not being forced to see Naitch spit his dip ad nauseum, but I think you get to "hear" the flow of the interview better and begin to feel as if you're sitting with Flair and hearing him wrap it down. Either way I've always preferred listening to shoots rather than watching them (I mean 3 hours looking at a fixed camera angle of a guys head doesn't really add anything, facial expressions or not.) Bravo again to HighSpots for producing the king of shoot interviews and please think about releasing CDR's of a shoots audio along with your DVD releases. It gives fans the oppurtunity to enjoy your product at home, in the car (my favorite locale), at work, etc... Thanks again...Whooo!!!

Good inverview over all, nothing is really dug up or covered indepth. Good road stories and loved the territory days stuff. The dipping and spitting is really distracting while watching it.

Reviewer: Corey from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia
He says he doesn't know where it all started with Bret Hart being mad at him. Look no further than your own book Mr. Flair!

I enjoyed the territory days portion of the interview just because I find the history of that era amazing.

Although there are times when it is hard to tell whether Flair was telling all that he knew.

Rating: - A Lengthy, but well done shoot
Reviewer: Brandon from Una, South Carolina
I've seen every minute of it and it's one of the best shoots that I've ever seen and I have a large collection of shoots. Flair answered every question, and wasn't a smart ass about it like other people. In addition, he put to rest several rumors that are decades long, and provided insight on new stories and explanations of events that occurred over the years that was unknown to the masses until Flair spoke about them on the DVD set. This was a thorough shoot, especially pertaining to Flair's territory days and personal life in general. The only thing that I didn't like was the lack of discussion about Jim Herd. It was like Flair just didn't want to say much about the guy. I was expecting at least 40 minutes of Herd bashing, but I really only received 20 minutes of it. Also, the DVD set could have included some old territory and Japanese matches involving Flair that I know that Highspots have in their library.

Besides that, this is a must buy for any Flair fan.

Rating: - great
Reviewer: Shawn from Trenton, Georgia
Starting out i thought the interview was going great. telling road stories about Rhodes and Murdoch. I thought it kinda slowed down toward the end of the interview. would've loved to heard some word association and what he REALLY thought about people. after hearing others talk about him the way they have (ie: Steiner) and for him to say he didnt have a problem with him. IDK. and after reading some of the other reviews I am glad that im not the only one that got tired of the constant dipping. I do believe though that it was Capt' Morgan bottles that he was turning up. This is still a MUST have for a Flair fan.

Rating: - Decent, but disappointing.
Reviewer: Sean from Mastic, New York
First, the packaging is outstanding. This looks like a professional release.

Flair's non-stop dipping is out of control and disgusting. He's chewing and spitting tobacco for literally 3/4 of the interview.

More importantly, though, is the fact that this interview is simply a historical account, and not an in-depth look at the man or his life. Flair is rarely if ever challenged about his beliefs, and his constant praising of Shawn, HHH, and Batista is beyond nauseating.

None of the things that make Flair controversial are ever touched upon - his days as WCW booker are practically ignored, as are his well-documented feuds with Mick Foley and Steve Austin.

Rating: - Ric Flair Shoot Interview 4 Disc Exclusive Set
Reviewer: jon from westland, Michigan
A good interview, however the low ranking is due to two very annoying things - long....unending..awkard...pauses after questions and answers. Most of all though - having to watch Ric spit out disgusting tobacco juice for hours and hours on end. I mean really - the man's being paid how much money to do this interview couldn't he have been told "no" when he asked if he could dip? Disgusting.

Rating: - Whooo!!! The greatest shoot...
Reviewer: John from Las Vegas, Nevada
Upon recieving the 4 disc set I was struck by the quality of the packaging. Truly on par with WWE releases. Like the other reviews stated, the interview was a bit slow in parts. Mainly due to the fact that Flairs life has been so documented in the last few years and the "huge" moments and stories are familiar to us Flair marks. The Beatles have the same problem with the many books and programs done on them. There was though, plenty that was new and the old stories were gone into more deeply than on the WWE interviews. The criticisms of Flairs "dipping" and lack of "burning bridges" type rants seem a bit petty to me. After all Ric gave several days worth of intense introspection on all facets of his life and I think if some Skoal and not totally rear ending Vince, et al. made him more at ease...so be it. This isn't some shoot with The Honky Tonk Man or Luger...This is The Naitch retelling his story for over a dozen hours and serves as the perfect complement to the other essential Flair DVD's (Ultimate & Essential Collections and the 4 Horseman set) All in all, highly recommended. Ahem...Whooo!!!

Rating: - ...mixed reaction.
Reviewer: david from Memphis, Tennessee
As far as packaging goes, Highspots has created something really cool... multi-disc fold-out box with an outer-sleeve... full of photos, including on the dvd's themselves... a truly professional package!
The interview itself is a Herculean effort, spanning almost every period of Flair's career. However, as stated below, he goes out of his way to not burn any bridges. Also, he sometimes seems to not understand the question, as some answers have nothing whatsoever to do with what is being asked. There is also a tragic undercurrent towards the end of the shoot... stories of getting Shawn Michaels drunk after 5 years of sobriety, the circumstances of his 2 recent divorces, an inablilty to control himself... it's an unflinching (if unintended) look at someone who "did it all", so to speak, but doesn't have a handle on life outside the spotlight... he says several times he "isn't ready to stop being Ric Flair".
And, finally, the chewing tobacco is truly disgusting... in a couple'a shots, you can see it stuck in his teeth, and you often see a water bottle raised up in the camera's view, full of brown juice... so un-Ric Flair!!

This is by far the best shoot interview that I have seen. This DVD set solidified my admiration and Respect for Ric Flair!! He is a genuine guy and really loves the fans as it shows in the very personal questions he was more than willing to answer!! Ric Flair was very respectful of his peers and didn't really shoot on anybody. I have already watched it twice and plan on a 3rd viewing very soon!!! Get it NOW!!

Rating: - Holy Spittoon!! LOL
Reviewer: John from Moravia, Iowa
The greatest shoot interview EVER. Flair holds nothing back. I watched all 13 hours straight through. Had to laugh at the fact that at least 2 hours is of Flair spitting chew into whatever is closest. C'mon Ric, spit it out already!! HAHA This DVD exceeds its expectations by far. THANK YOU HIGHSPOTS!! MONEY WELL SPENT!!

Rating: - A lot but really not A lot
Reviewer: Robert from Port Orange, Florida
How everone can rate this shoot 5 stars is just because he is Ric Flair. Yes I love Flair and he is the best but this shoot is a lot but alot of the times a lot of nothing. For 13 hours there should of been a lot more stories and a lot more inside stuff. Ever now and then there is but the shoot is not burning any bridges type shoot. DID FLAIR KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO BE ON VIDEO - THE NON STOP DIPPING WAS TERRIBLE and ruined watching most of the shoot. There is an edit on DVD 3 from benoit to steroids to where there is no transition, hes talking about benoit to talking about another topic which you can assume was steriods, horrible edit. Flair to be so pro WAR - I dont see Reid David or Ashely serving our country. How many times can you say Im not going to mention any names but. So we dont know who youre talking about. This DVD cooks the most with DVD 2. DVD 1 is pretty slow going until the end and DVD 3 really slows down with his final WWF days playing the name game and how he feels about everyone with the standard, hes a great worker and I really loved the time we had in the ring. But really not too much about his first WWF run. Not too many stories during the hey day of 88-91 and the big controversy. The shoot is very business like and I can see where he is a great PR person but the real business like Flair makes this shoot drag. I know 13 hours is a lot but there wasnt a lot inside WCW 90's stories when the NWO was going on. Or not too much on the horseman or too much on the his hatred toward herd. The things you think he should talk about the most, he barely touches on. I was like everyone else, release the 7 other hours of unedited footage but now I dont know. He wont even talk about the black eye. When the Nature boy aint the Nature boy he's is really boring. We got more info on Daivd flairs WCW career than how flair really felt about the WCW during the Monday night Wars. AND THIS NON STOP DIPPING IS AWFUL. OK A little bit on DVD 4 he talks about Jim herd for about 2 minutes. HBK and Hunter and Vince are totally protected here which tells me he will be back in the WWF within 2 years because unless Flair is going to unleash some real dirt, I cant see the indy tours lasting much longer than that. I love on DVD 4 how he doesnt think they got the right people to write his book and thats my opinion on who he got to do this shoot. TOO MANY STONES LEFT UNTURNED and too many stones that dont even mattered unturned. As far as his wives and why the divorces, are stones that were already unturned so we were all let through that door as it happened. This shoot has made me like Flair less and I that thought that would never happen. I do think HIGHSPOTS gave this shoot the royal treatment, Great box and real DVD's meaning the data side is silver not just DVD-R's as most NEW SHOOTS are delivered. DOnt get me wrong. NATURE BOY is the man, but this shoot should of been a lot more, or a lot less in time. Ive spent 4 days listening to this and cant say I am too much more enightened, Just like he says in DVD 4 Ric doesnt want to share what he is doing until its documented. Thats it in a nutshell for $29.99

Highspots shoot interviews have come a long way from when they was first was released, because this is the best production ever released! As for the DVD itself it’s the greatest ever! I received mine on Friday and spent the entire day watching the 13hr plus DVD, because I was glued to the TV! Thanks Highspots for the best shoot ever and thanks Ric Flair for all the memories! Because Flair retiring was definitely the end of a era of wrestling that I grow up and loved.

Rating: - Outstanding, intriguing and moving. Thank you Ric and Highspots!

First I want to comment on the packaging and the autograph: well...AWESOME! It was a very special treat to get the special collector's case autographed. Worth every penny. I took the case, put it in a shadow box frame and hung it up in my office to preserve what is a priceless treasure to me. Highspots included an apology note that my autograph had been shortened, but in fact it ended up perfect: "To Little Naitch Joey. Ric Flair WWE 16X". No apology necessary for that.

As for the DVDs, I have finished watching the interview and most of the bonus footage on disc four. It's taken a few days but I've been glued to the TV each time I watched another part. Most diehard fans will know most of what's on the first 2 discs as it covers the early stages up until the early WCW era. Still, since the interview is uncensored I like Ric's unfiltered recollection of events. The only faults I could find were timelines were off at a few points, and the story about the Luger match at Bash 88 was incorrect or kayfabed. I'm not sure which. I think Ric has had a whirlwind life and doesn't dwell on each factoid of his career like the fans do. So this criticism is trivial I suppose.

Discs 3 and 4 are the payoff for me. Especially when he covers his last 7 years with WWE and gets very personal about his previous marriages. I won't spoil it but the Last Dance & Thank You Ric segments were very powerful. Ric holds nothing back and allows fans to see a very personal side we have rarely seen before. He also gives the full scoop on why he left Vince and WWE. The extras on disc 4 are NOT to be overlooked as he tells all about why he divorced Beth and is divorcing Tiffany. Most guys would never let fans in the door that far, so I was very impressed by that. Again, if you are going to purchase this, get the 4 disc version!

You can really tell that everyone involved in this wanted people to get their money's worth, and that's the best part of this project. This was money wisely invested and a perfect birthday gift for myself.

Once again, thanks Highspots. And thank you Ric Flair for all you sacrificed and endured, it will be eternally appreciated. Wooooo!!!

Highspots definitely hit not only a home run, but a grand slam with this shoot interview.. This is definitely one of the two biggest names i've ever wanted to see do a shoot with hogan right there.. Flair is definitely very passionate and it comes across in this shoot and tells quite a few great stories.. The guy got buried in a desert and somehow still found a way out even though no one knows how he got out of there hahahaa.. I am glad i purchased this four disc shoot because it has become my all-time favorite shoot. congratulations to highspots for now having the biggest shoot interview ever.. The only negative that I can see so far is the fact that High Spots goes with the WWE interpretation that Flair has only won 16 World Titles, when the official records of the NWA, WWE, and WCW (pre-McMahon) show a combined 20 World Titles. It is the true number and I only wish that the "Nature Boy" would finally get his proper credit!!!
